**This journal has been waterlogged; its pages swollen and stuck together, and the drawings inside bled together and nearly indecipherable.**

**The top right-hand corner of this page has been torn off.**

**A drawing of two men - one of each of their hands is outstretched toward you, the observer, while their inmost hands hang limply at their sides. They have similar features and builds, though they obviously differ in age. Behind them, roughly sketched, is a beach.

The man on the right is older; the lines on his face making his expression severe, but a smile can be detected in his eyes. His hair is on the lighter side and cropped close to his head. He wears a simple white button-up, tucked into a pair of gray-shaded trousers.

The man on the left is much younger; his lips are turned up into a dimpled grin, and his thick brows are expressive. His dark, wavy locks are pulled back and tied at the nape of his neck - a few strands left to fall into his face. He wears dark-colored breeches, fitted to his slender form, and a shirt worn loosely beneath a jerkin, whose laces have been left untied and hanging limply at the top.

Both of the men are barefoot, their pants rolled up to their calves and their toes half-covered in sand.**

**A wilted flower has been pressed between the pages here.**

**A charcoal drawing of a hand whose fingers are loosely curled around a bouquet of wilted flowers. The fingers on the hand are slender, as is the wrist it derives from, with fingernails chewed to the quick. The stems and leaves of the flowers sag, the blooms attached hanging flaccidly like withered bells. It's clear that a lot of time went into this drawing, every fold in each petal having been shaded attentively.**

**A small dried wet spot mars part of the hand in the drawing, looking as though it has been wiped at. The charcoal here is slightly smeared.**

**A rough sketch of the back of an androgynous figure, sitting in front of a trapdoor with their legs folded beneath them. The person is hunched forward - chin propped up by the palm of their hand, while its affiliated elbow rests on top of one leg. The other arm is bent and lies limply in their lap. The tilt of their head leaves the impression that they are peering down at the trapdoor.**

**Two adjacent pages.**

**The left-hand page: A roughly sketched Ethucan guard stands straight and tall in the bottom left corner of this page, a serious expression on his face; his arms are pinned down to his sides and his eyes are hard, seeming to look at you and past you at the same time. In the top right corner of this page is drawn, in great detail, a Canopy Stalker. The inked drawing is shaded using several fine lines and dots.**

**The right-hand page: In the center of this page is a cartoon-like drawing of a shark. It stands upright on its tail, its front fins crossed over his chest, and his mouth spread wide in a seemingly wicked grin - revealing its pointed teeth.**

**Scattered across both pages are other random, tiny doodles: a sweet roll, a crystal that appears to be dull, a curling feather, and some random geometric shapes and swirls.**

**The first page has been torn from the journal; the page beneath its jagged remnants is blank.**
