So once more, Summerfaire draws to a close. It's been a wonderful season, thanks to the hard work of Azure and all those who have put on the various events. I've been able to attend all but one of the gatherings. Throughout the time of celebration, all have thrown themselves into proceedings. It's been a joy to have opportunities to make new acquaintances, and to renew old friendships.
At various times people might have seen a mediocre chef, or a very bad attempt at conjury. Or perhaps they noticed a figure clad all in black, a representation of the darkness against which we fight. Then again, they may have spotted an itinerant vagabond who seemed to think his tattered garb was the height of fashion! In various guises, I too immersed myself in all that was going on.
The vagabond ... I felt an almost physical pain as I removed my garnet ring, even though it was only for a few marcs. I made sure it was packed away safely - and the plain brass ring I wore instead was a gift from the same person, so that helped to ease the hurt somewhat.
Games of chance, tests of wits ... gatherings formal and more casual ... all add to the mood of Summerfaire. Those who spent their time and energy organising things have my sincere thanks.
Corlan has, naturally, kept himself busy, turning up at all occasions with his tasty selection of food and drink. If I'd not had a couple of rather frantic forays into the greenhouse I'm not sure if my armour would have still fit.

Amongst the celebrations, our labours continue. Raids to deal with, the safety of the lands to ensure. And the history of the lands to speak of with the historian. Unfortunately I've missed most of her visits, but I have had a chance to look at the tomes she has written.
I've had reason to think deeply about what I do, how I operate in the lands, as I pass on what knowledge I can to another. Very soon, it will be my honour to accompany them on their visit to the temple, and guide one more onto the path which I follow.

To all friends, old and new ... a belated wish for a joyous Summerfaire. May the 'rifter shine on you all.
