An eye for an eye, a tooth for a hand

The Cleric tip-toed his way along the dank corridor, his arm stretched in front of him and his holy ring help aloft in front of his face. Despite its brilliant glow it barely cut through the oppressive darkness. The steady drip drip drip of cold swamp water around the Clerics feet had a hypnotic effect. It nearly cost him his arm. The monster betrayed its self, so eager was it to take his entire arm in one go it grinned. It was the faintest reflected glow from is sickly dagger like teeth that warned the Cleric.
Instinctively drawing his arm back the Infant N`rolav Beast’s jaws snapped together sounding more like two broadswords clashing than an animals teeth only inches from the end of the Clerics hand.

In the darkness all the Cleric could see was the creatures teeth and the barest hint of its huge muscular body blocking his path down the corridor ahead. With a shake of his head the Cleric ignored the dripping water now intent on his prey lest he become the hunted. Deep heavy footfalls marked the beasts approach, the Cleric waited for it to, wary of the toughest opponent he had yet faced in this land and slightly in shock from the near miss. He had heard from others reports of this creature’s ferocity and was taking no risks by rashly attacking. The cleric again held out his ring in front of him, this time as bait, as the Infant N`rolav Beast lunged the Cleric focussed, a blinding light shone out, the beasts pain and disorientation were evident by a deep bellow and a thud as it stumbled against the passage wall. Taking advantage of the creature’s momentary weakness the Cleric drove his Ultimate Weapon below the creatures jaw, he felt it bite against still heavy armour despite the rings weakening effect.

Thick blood gushed from the wound but The Infant N`rolav Beast proved itself a deadly foe, lashing out with its front legs across his chest, the Cleric was forced over by the blow but was thankfully not bleeding, just another rib! Even with such a wound the beast showed no sign of weakening, desperate measures were called for.
Its jaws held the key, they were its greatest weapon but provided the only soft area to inflict a deadly blow. Darting forward again the creature went for the Clerics sword arm this time wary of the rings holy power, the Cleric knew he must be quick, thrusting his ultimate weapon forward into the beast open jaws, a bellow of pain, a rush of rotten breath, the slumping of the beast and the attachment of the Clerics arm to his body told the Cleric his aim had been true.

Looking down at the slayed beast the Cleric reached into its gore filled mouth, he prised one of its teeth the UW had not melted, they fetched a good price at Haggies. Breathing heavily the Cleric stood and turned around. Although valuable such teeth were not worth risking an arm for.
